For those who were kind of lost on the content of the last entry, see, I have this Batphone. My brother has a couple in his house, and I (was) pretty much the only person he knows (knew) with one, and so his son, my Nephew, has basically never seen that phone used to talk to anyone who wasn't me. This private networkness is in fact why we call it the Batphone, though now both my brothers, myself, and my friend Kevin have them. Kevin is even considering getting a cake display to put his in, for true batphone-ness. So, my nephew thinks of this phone as a direct line to me, which it kinda is. My nephew is apparently pretty fond of me. So at random times he decides he wants to call me. He's gotten his nanny to let him call my cell phone several times, in the course of which he has invited me over to his house, usually for some activity I do not comprehend at all, like "rebuilding the boat." I later found out that the "boat" was a particular arrangement of wooden blocks in their living room that had been Godzilla'd. Now that he understands the batphone, he likes to call and say hi and sometimes ask me about things he's holding, and it's too adorable for me to break the news that I can't see them. Plus, he seems to enjoy my made up answers as much as he would any real one. The mp3 in the last entry was made of a couple voicemails he left me, when I was not near the batphone. He apparently isn't on such solid ground when it comes to the voicemail concept, so he needed some prompting. My sister in law especially could hardly contain her laughter when she was indulging him in calling me, and then had to walk him through it when he completely spaced on his objective after getting the voicemail prompt. Michael, my brother, managed to rush him through pretty quickly, but Jennifer apparently enjoyed watching Mitch flounder a bit, and I must say I would've lost it at his smug declaration that his name was Mitch. They weren't prompting him, just trying to move him along, and I kinda feel bad that they have to humor him. But man, it makes for some cute voicemails. [emma isn't over any more] Comments:
