hannibal's on the jazz

A new TRB song is available.

the rage box - deus ex machina

Got home from the crawfish low country boil tonight, and while getting my computer's typical loadout of specialty programs re-installed in the fresh XP install, this just sort of happened.

I really like it. It's a little on the fast paced side, a little on the industrial side, but it's heads and shoulders above my usual in terms of composition and notes actually falling in some kind of meter, instead of when my fat clumsy fingers manage to hit the keys.

This is definitely in the top five. Finn, if you're still reading, I think you'll enjoy it.

Speaking of the crab boil, I had an unpleasant experience with mine.

Weak.

I have to get up early tomorrow, so that's it for now.

[and that means we all dead meat]

productivity with injured legs

This entry is a day or so old. Whoops.

So, amongst the other things I've got running on the linux box that fuels most of my network services is a VOIP PBX called Asterisk.

That was a rather long, unbroken sentence. I apologize.

Anyway, I've got my home phone system all routed through this, and it's quite nice having a system capable of driving a corporate telephone network pushing all the packets along for my crappy little home VOIP setup.

There are some things that bug me about how I had it set up, however. For my own edification, I shall list them in a conversationally anal retentive fashion:

  • When people called into my voip network from a plain phone system, using the libretel number, they didn't get a voicemail prompt, and thus probably weren't able to leave me voicemails.

  • When I went to check said voicemail left by those who used the batphone number, I had to "log in" with the extension number and password. This meant I had to dial the voicemail number, then another number, then a third password number, just to get a recording of someone hanging up. Bleh.

I take pride in listing these things in bullet form because when I couldn't sleep the other night, I kicked their asses. Now people can leave me voice mail, and I can check it with a single button. It's finally a home phone replacement in terms of ease of use.

I win.

[if only I knew why they hurt]

WoW-link-a-thon

I'd like to make a brief entry to geek out about WoW a bit and to point out two things.

One, proof that playing a warlock long enough turns people crazy. I'm on page 3.

Two, proof that those who escape that will nonetheless become highly deranged. Scroll through to the comments.

[2 doesn't really count as an a-thon]

it wasn't me, i swear

I'd just like to say, I had nothing to do with this.

But I'd like to thank Brian for bringing this to my attention.

Seriously, though, I've never even been there.

[you can't prove anything]

down through my hands

A new TRB song is available.

the rage box - cross country

I did most of this while on the phone about a week ago. It's what I like to call one of those "compilation of sounds that eventually became mildly pretty" songs.

There's still some pretty bad clipping, because it's almost 8am, and there's my OCD perfectionism vs my dry, pulsating eyes, and the more the pulsating eyes fight the more the perfectionism seems a distant, unrealistic dream. So, no producy medal on this one. Waaah.

Oh yeah, and happy fourth of July.
